I Love You Beery Much

It's the day before Valentine's Day! I can't believe how fast this week has flown by. If you still need a gift for that special man in your life, here is an easy one that he is sure to love!
Go to the store and get a 6-pack of his favorite beer. Or, just for fun, grab one of those really big bottles.

If you chose the 6-pack, black out a border around the top of the box, and the middle of both sides, as shown below. (The 12" paper is just a little short to reach the top and halfway around the box, so this way it will just have a black strip showing.)

Grab a piece of 12x12 scrapbook paper and cut it in half, so you have two pieces of 6x12 paper.

Line the paper along the bottom of the box, and center it... then glue it in place. Do this for both sides.

If you are doing the big bottle, measure the height of the label, and cut the paper a 1/2" larger. Line the paper up so that it covers the label on the bottle and glue it in place. If your bottle has a small label at the top of the neck, you may choose to cut a small strip to cover that also.

Print out the label for the box by going here. If you are doing the big bottle, get the smaller label by going here. If you are having trouble printing the correct size directly from you internet browser, you can go here and save the image to your computer. You can then open the image and resize it as needed in any photo editing program, or even in Word.

Cut out the label and center it on the box or on the bottle.

And there you go. One "beery" nice Valentine gift for your man!

Christmas Gift Layout

The presents are all opened, the food is all eaten, and you have a ton of new pictures just waiting to be scrapbooked!

Here is a quick layout for you to make that will get you started...

Get a 12x12 piece of Christmas or Winter scrapbook paper and a coordinating piece of 12x12 cardstock. You will also need a small piece of white or cream cardstock... smooth texture would be best.

First, cut 2 - 1 1/4" strips of your coordinating cardstock and ink the edges if you like.

Next, save the bow pattern and open it in a photo-editing program, or Word. Adjust the size to 5.61" high by 7.21" wide, so the bow is 5 5/8" wide. I know, weird sizes by that's how it worked out. =0)

Print, cutout and trace the pattern onto the back of your coordinating cardstock. After cutting out the pieces to your bow, you can choose to ink the edges... this will give it a little dimension and make the layers stand out. Next, glue the pieces of your bow together.

Cut a 2 1/2" x 4" rectangle out of your white cardstock... I like to ink the edges with silver. As you can see, my silver gets a LOT of use!

Next, write "From: Santa" on your rectangle to make it a tag. Or, you can write To: and put the name of the person or family that are the subject in your pictures.

Now it's time to put everything together!

Place one 2 1/4" from the top, and place the other 2 1/4" from the right side (or left, if that is what you prefer).

Next, WITHOUT any glue, take your tag and lay it on the page and then lay your bow over it. Get the placement of the tag that you like and glue it down. Be sure to not glue next to the edges, that way you can slide your pictures underneath when you place them.

I like to use foam adhesive or pop-dots for the bow so that it gives it extra dimension. Whether you decide to use that, or to glue it flat to the page is up to you, and great either way. Just like the tag, you just want to be sure to not glue the ends of the "ribbon" so that you can slip your pictures underneath them.

Last, but not least it's time to add in your pictures. You can either place 3 - 4" x 6" pictures like I did, or you can cut them smaller and add more photos to the page.

I would love to see your version of this layout! Send me pics!!

Unique Birthday Present

Ok, so.... this year I am turning 30! Not until October, but don't tell anyone, because I refuse. I decided that I am going to stay 29 forever. I am going to just keep celebrating my 29th birthday year, after year, after year.

So even though I will never be able to receive this adorable gift, it definitely made me smile! I found this great idea over at Sisters' Stuff. Too, too cute!

A Valentine Gift For Him

So, I guess if my hubby reads this it kind of spoils any surprise!! Oh well, what I won't do for y'all! Actually, he will probably get this when he gets home... and hopefully he will share. =o)

I have the same problem every year when I try to think of a Valentine's Day gift for him... everything is geared toward women and is super girlie! I know for a fact that my husband does not want a cute little stuffed teddy bear! There is one thing that he does like though, and that is candy. So when I saw this heart-shaped box of butter cups, I had an idea... to turn this girlie box into a mantastic one!

First, print a diamond plate pattern on a white piece of cardstock. We have a great diamond plate digital paper in our Metal Digital Paper Set which you can get in our shop! Make sure that you set the left and right margin space to "0.25" so that you will get the max printable space.

Trace the top of the box on the backside of your cardstock, and cut it out.

Cover the top of the box with Mod Podge and put the cardstock in place.

By inking the edges of the heart, it not only adds detail, but it helps to cover if your cardstock does not line up perfectly. Next, decorate the box how you want. Remember to keep it masculine! Unless your man is a landscaper, or has a true affection for flowers, try to refrain. I used simple hearts, and words. I actually wanted to cut the letters out of newspaper, but we don't get the newspaper anymore, so that wasn't exactly possible. After I decorated it, I covered the entire thing with another layer of glossy Mod Podge, and it turned out like this............

I think it turned out great... definitely mantastic! =o)

Tea Bag Holder Cards

Tea Bag Holder

Unfortunately, my husband had to start back to work this morning after a great 2 week leave period. =o( So, I am up, at 5:30am and have been up for an hour already. I can't complain though, since the poor guy has to get up at 3:30am every morning.... I at least get the extra hour. Anyhoo, since I am up way before the kids are, and the house is quiet, I'm sitting here with my cup of coffee reading through my favorite blogs. You're probably wondering what this has to do with the super cute picture above, so I'll get to it.

I was reading a blog that I love called Lolly Chops. She has this adorable tutorial for Tea Bag Holder Cards. (I personally like her title better "The Mad Tatter's Teabag Template", but since I don't have a Mad Tatter in my family it wouldn't work.) These cards would be great for so many different things! Valentine's Day, a Just Thinking of You Card, Mother's Day... Father's Day. You could even use them as a money holder card for a birthday, or adjust the size a little for a gift card holder. Anyways, go here to check it out!

Personalized Memory Game

I came across this great idea at My Mind's Eye! I'm thinking of making this as a gift for my niece's birthday, using photos just of her. She will get a kick out of it since she loves to look at pictures of herself, as most kids do!

Gift Card Holders

Here's a little way to add a personal touch to giving a gift card.... make your own holder!

Start by cutting a 2 3/4" x 9" piece of cardstock. (I would recommend using a cardstock that is not a white core, as the color tends to crack and the white shows when the paper is creased and folded.)

Measure from the left and mark your cardstock at 3 3/4" and at 7 5/8". Score and fold. (My paper cutter has a scoring blade, but if you don't have one of those, a pizza cutter works really well, or the dull side of a butter knife. Use a ruler as a guide.)

Next, with your folded parts sticking up, measure in 1/2" from each crease and mark.

Cut two 6 1/4" lengths of ribbon. Line up the edge of the ribbon to the marks as shown in the pic below.

Gift Card Holder

Put a dot of glue on each edge of the holder where the ribbon is going to go. Make sure to leave enough space in between your glue points for the gift card to fit. Gluing at the edges will help give a tighter fit to hold the card.

Flip the cardstock over, and secure the edge of the ribbon with another dot of glue. Keep in mind that you are going to cover the glued portion of the ribbon with an embellishment so if you want it centered, glue the ribbon in the center of the card. If you want your embellishment off center, then glue accordingly.

Repeat with the second ribbon as shown below.

Now it's time to decorate! I chose snowflakes (can you tell I have a thing for snowflakes?). Choose a larger embellishment to place on the small folded part, this is going to be your closure. Glue it halfway off the edge of the cardstock as shown, so it will overlap when the holder is closed. (I know, obvious note, but make sure you glue it to the correct side of the paper.... the folded parts should be facing down!)

Use a little Zot to close the holder, and your all done!
